Well, I just wanted to comment... Yes, that is a "cesarean birth"... I was coherced into a c/s by my lawsuit scared OB, and still carry the scars and internal adhesions, and will for life... Anyone who watches this and then can tell me a c/s is the same as a vaginal birth should have their heads examined... Anyone notice how they were pulling and pushing practically violent? Yes, they do, I thought I was being pulled apart.. Oh, but don't worry they just pull the muscles, they will probably fall back into place...
Thank you for sharing this, thank you for showing how cesareans leave the baby alone to be deep suctioned (long tube down into the lungs) and wrapped in a towel, alone, as mom lie's strapped to a table... Welcome to the cold sterile world little one...
Thank you for sharing this. I've had two caesarean births with the first one leaving a deep emotional scar. I had better control over the second birth but was still saddened by this video. Nonetheless, it showed the "pains" of caesarean births to people who have always thought that mothers who did not have a normal birth had it real easy through caesarean section. Thanks again.
I was unable to give birth naturally due to severe pre-eclampsia, a life threatening condition for both Mother and Baby. Just wanted to say that it makes me upset when people are either apalled at the actual procedure or go on about the "rough" treatment that appears to be being administered to either the mother or child during the operation. In the end a healthy baby has been brought into the world and in my case I was able to recover quickly from the procedure. Isnt that a much better outcome than having either a sick or worse baby or mother? No it may not look nice or natural and it may not necessarily be the "ideal" way to give birth in some peoples minds and yes you do end up with scars both internal and external but just take a look at the beautiful being you have created and it doesnt matter how they got there. So dont be upset by seeing footage such as this because it may just be the best and safest way to bring your baby into the world. Thank You .
Well OK, it isn't all hearts and roses, but most people don't get pregnant for the birth experience, but for the lovely baby!! I had an emergency section after a 24 hour labour a few months ago. Both my baby and I were in distress, and she was lodged in my pelvis, not properly engaged. I'm 100% sure that my little girl doesn't remeber a thing, and although it isn't they way I planned my labour at least she is here safe and sound.
As for some of the previous comments "the baby is left alone to be deep suctioned" - how do you think this happens??? Does baby hold the tubes????!! The Doctors and Midwives that looked after my little one were amazing. She was with my husband, sat next to me straight afterwards.
Many women feel guilty enough after a section. We need support and understanding, and not these kind of unhelpful comments. A baby safe and well is the number 1 priority.
I had a vaginal high forceps delivery from hell with a fourth degree tear and a baby with a brachial plexus injury after pushing for over 4 hours because my OB at the time failed to realize the signs that there were problems and then 3 years later went on to have a WONDERFUL c-section delivery that the staff and my NEW OB went out of their way to make as normal and as close to a normal delivery for me as possible. While I didn't get to hold my baby immediately, once she was checked by the doctor, my husband was allowed to hold her for as long as he wanted and I got to hold her my entire time in recovery and the rest of my hospital stay we roomed in and everything was perfect. My pain level was also less than it was with my vaginal delivery because there were no complications.
Thank you for sharing this. i had an emergency c-section which has left me somewhat traumatised and no where could I find a realistic description of what happened to me. Words are simply not good enough. This has been rather therapeutic for me.
im having a baby soon... but I was unable to give birth naturally due to severe threatening condition. Looks scary.. are we concius while doing this cesarean??
Some mothers prefer to be unconscious during the procedure under anaesthesia, while some mothers would like to view the procedure but doesn't want to feel the pain, which the Anaesthetist is abe to do so.
It merely depends on your preferrence and whether your doctor allowed you to. :)
I think the big picture should be about the beautiful baby that we have after the nightmare is over. But that doesn't mean we forget the nightmare no matter how hard we try. I just felt angry, and confused. I was angry that I had to have a caesarian, I didnt believe that my OB did everything he could have to allow me to have a natural birth. I was angry that noone would tell me what was going on and only the orderly pushing me into the OR told answered 'yes' when I grabbed his arm and asked him if I was going in for a caesarian. I was angry that I couldnt pick up my baby and was so drugged up and out of it and utterly exhausted that I barely knew what was going on. When I got back home I felt like that I failed and I felt that every body expected me to just pick up where I left off, to not miss a beat. Maybe everyone else just fobs of a caesar but to me it was major surgery! They cut through our bodies, layer after layer after layer and in this video, it seems like they ripped open a layer with their bare hands. I'm still angry because my husband gets annoyed at me when I say me scar hurts now at 8 months on or is itchy on some days or not to pick me up from the hips because it pulls at my scar and hurts. I know I have a beautiful baby girl and I'm so over joyed and I will have more children even if I have to have more caesers and I don't want to scare people... just I felt unbelievably traumatised by my daughters birth and it has taken me a lot of time and counselling with my mummy friends to get through it. Thanks for letting me gt that off my chest and my heart.
I just have to say that I had 3 C-sections, and all 3 were not the same. My first one was scary but after pushing for 4 hours and not getting anywhere I decided to have one. My OB was excellent in telling me all the procedures that I was going to go thru, and at the end I wasn't worried about my scar or hurting I was worried about my daughter, and thank God she was a healthy 8 pounds. My second section was an emergency, he was in distress and needed to be delivered ASAP, he also was a healthy 6 pounds and I still didn't worry about anything other than my sons well being. Now my third was the scariest, she was born at 28 weeks, she was enbedded in my pelvis and we didn't have time to have a natural birth, she needed to be delivered fast, and with the hospital staffs experience I didn't need to worry, I knew I was in good hands. I had to worry about her well being because she was a miracle baby, she only weighed 2 pounds. I saw her right after she was born and nurses and doctors were with my kids every step of the way. So any one that has bad things to say about c-scetions, don't talk until you have experienced it. In the end, your scars will heal, and you will not remember all you went thru, all that will matter is that little miracle you have created.
wow.... I didn't expect to see that. Now I am really freaked. I am due on Aug. 6,2008. My baby has turned and is now what doctors call breach. I went yesterday July 23 for a diversion and baby has not moved. The doctor told me i have to return on Mon. July 28 and try another diversion and to be induced. If baby doesn't turn I have to have a this done to me. After seeing this video now I am not sure. This really makes me scared. But as long as your baby is healthy is the main thing. I would still like to hold my baby right after birth like I did my previous 3. But I guess this is what happens. Congratulations
I just wanna add that 7 years ago i got into labour and was unable to give birth naturally. My baby was in distress and i could have lost him. After 3 days of horrific labour i was wheeled into theatre for an emergency c section. Being diabetic didnt help either The doctors and nurses who were well skilled did a tremedous job. My husband who was present told me of what took place during the procedure and it was scary, but it saved my babies life. My baby spent a whole week in NICU but pulled through and is a lovely 7 year old active child today. If i didnt go through with the c section who knows what consequences would have followed. Now 7 years down the line i'm preparing to have another c section on 12 Sept 08. My OB is an excellent person who is absolutely supportive and encouraging as my current pregnancy was a bit risky from day 1. I'm comfortable with going through with a c section again and so is my husband.
wow i never thought c sections were that difficult of a surgery didnt know there were that many layers tpo cut threw omg cause i had 2 done and im having another one next month
This is a wonderful video for those who would like to have a preview of a C-section.. but for those who are going to give birth soon - never fear! the most important thing is that you deliver your precious one safely.
I just had my caesarian procedure 2 weeks ago, and I can say that I did not feel any pain or remorse after seeing this video. C-section was an option for me as the size of my pelvic bone is below normal and my baby can't pass thru normal delivery. I might have not enjoyed carrying my baby soon after the operation, but everything went well afterwards. Babies were suctioned after CS delivery to ensure that they can breath well on their own and not to give them pain.
January 11,2009 I will be having my planned C-section on the 15 January because my baby is breech and I refused to do the ECV for fear of causing distress to my baby. Seeing this video left me having mixed feelings about the procedure- ie. I actually saw what the doctors will be doing to me, the feeling of being nervous going for the procedure, anxious that the baby will not be hurt by the surgeon's knife and my recovery period.I am a first time mum and I hope everything will be alright on that day. Thanks for sharing this informative video.

OMG!!! is all i can say after watching that. I really had no idea of how exactly the procedure went i thought it was a little worse than it actually was. I have just had a gorgeous baby boy in July. After a very long 33 hours of labour and my body not doing what it is meant to do i also had and emergency C/S. My body was just too small to give birth naturally.I am all of 50kg and just 5ft tall which makes you think why the midwives would let me go so long without checking if my body was capable, which it turned out not to be. I choose to be awake and have my hubby right by my side as this was our first baby.
Its not a nice procedure and yes it does feel like you are being pulled apart, but its all worth it in the end when you see and hear those first crys your new baby makes as he enters the world. My journey of motherhood given me four very beautiful children
1st child my only son now 21yrs was a 30hour labour(while my son slept in womb) with no cervix dialation and was induced with no result ended with c-section at 36wks due to body fluid
I was then sent for pelvic examination resulting in inability give natural birth to smaller than normal cavity by measurement standards
2nd child was first daughter now 19yrs
3rd child was second daughter now 13yrs
4th child was third daughter now 6yrs
It took great courage to have 4 c-sections I truly love all 4 of my children dearly, really was small price to pay
I now attend gym as exersize is important
The mini video screened on this site is reality, was lovely to finally see what really happened regardless of being graphic
